CF is typically thought of as a lung disease, but it also can affect so many more systems of the body than just the respiratory system. CF presents differently in each patient; even in our two kids who have the same two genetic mutations, we see big differences!
Before CF patients had access to modulators like Trikafta, many weren't living long enough to worry about some of these long term issues across the body (for example, did you know the risk of colon cancer is 5-10x higher for CF patients?) As we plan for longer lives for our kids, it's important that we are aware of other risk factors and possibilities.
